Drug assisted crime is a growing concern, even in social environments where people are relaxing, enjoying themselves and maybe having a drink. A recent survey found that 25% of women drinkers believed that they had had a drink ‘spiked’ at least once. Victims have little or no memory of what happened and the drugs are very hard to detect in blood or urine because they leave the system very quickly. In the past year, more than 1000 women in Britain have reported being attacked while drugged. Because the victim cannot even remember the crime, it has been very difficult to prove and there have been few successful prosecutions. Drink Detective detects the presence of the three most commonly used drugs used to spike drinks but it does not take the place of common sense or the responsibility to drink safely. |
